1. Introduced on April 7, 1953, the 701 was IBM's first electric computer and the first mass produced computer. The machine has 256 40-bit words of main memory and can perform 2,200 multiplications per second. A total of 19,701 computers were sold.
2. 701 is also a United States area code.
